10. Rising Sun
A good rivalry story is what everyone loves to hear. Launched in 2004, in the case of the 452-foot Rising Sun, its story is about Oracle CEO Larry Ellison and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen.
9. Al Salamah
Another Lürssen builds, the 457-foot Al Salamah coming in at number 9. In 1999, Al Salamah was delivered but in 2007, returned to Lürssen for a refit. Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia was reportedly the owner.
Measuring 462 feet, 7 inches and 2011, Yas was launched by the shipyard Abu Dhabi MAR. Yas is a downright remake of Royal Netherlands Navy 1978 steel-hulled navy frigate.
7. El Horriya
By far, the 478-foot El Horriya was originally built in 1865 as a royal yacht for the Khedive of Egypt is the oldest yacht in our top 10 list. El Horriya in her many years, including two extensions, has had restorations.
6. Prince Abdulaziz
For the Saudi royal family, Danish yard Helsing V Prince Abdulaziz in 1984. Prince Abdulaziz comes in as the 6th largest luxury yacht in the world at 482 feet 4 inches. Reportedly, it comprises the following features: a fully equipped hospital, a mosque, and a movie theater.
Building massive super yachts are what Lürssen keeps busy. Topaz comes in at number 5 with a length of 483 feet 2 inches, just about 10 inches longer than Prince Abdulaziz.
4. Al Said
Al Said has a helipad. 65 guests can be accommodated, a movie theater can be enjoyed plus there is a concert hall available when your favorite orchestra drops by for a visit.
With a length of 531 feet 6 inches, Dubai comes in at number three. Dubai got off to a slow start and has also used the names Golden Star, Platinum, and Panhandle. The yacht was started by a partnership between Blohm + Voss and Lürssen and was originally commissioned in 1996. The production was interrupted for some years. After bought by the government of Dubai, hence the new name, she was finished in 2006 by Platinum Yachts. Dubai reportedly brings her own submarine with her many water toys.
From her launch in 2010 until April 2013, Blohm + Voss build Eclipse held the title of world’s largest luxury yacht. With a top speed of 22 knots, she is 536 feet in length.
Azzam outdoes Eclipse as the world’s largest superyacht in April 2013 at a staggering 590 feet 7 inches. Azzam reportedly hit over 31 knots on her sea trials in the North Sea, with a comprehensive horsepower of 94,000. With an open design and no pillars, the main salon alone is 95 feet long by 59 feet wide. For a calculated roughly 600 million dollars, Azzam was built by Lürssen Yachts. The President of the United Arab Emirates Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan is believed to be the owner.
